The integration is straightforward. Political Affair’s CMS pulls candidacy data on the morning of each publication. Writers reference the live record rather than manually compiled tables. Editors can query historical comparisons — “how did this riding vote in the last four federal elections?” — in seconds, not hours.
For readers, the change is visible in the depth of the contextual data that now accompanies each piece. For the CED team, it is a proof of concept: the database is useful not only as an archive but as live infrastructure for political journalism.
